Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Così fan tutte

Two men are engaged to a pair of sisters. A bet is made: with enough temptation, would the sisters remain faithful, or be led astray? The men take up disguises and a farcical seduction begins.

Composed at the height of Mozart’s creativity, Così fan tutte is a witty and sharply satirical look at relationships and human nature. Director and previous winner of the European Opera-directing Prize Sam Brown joins Lesley Anne Sammons (La Calisto, 2019), conducting the Barefoot Band in her own re-orchestration of the opera, in an English translation.

Please note that this production contains some scenes of a sexual nature, and occasional strong language. Parental discretion is advised.

Introducing… the Big Top

Big Top Interior

For three of our productions in 2021 – Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Monteverdi’s The Return of Ulysses, and Janacek’s The Cunning Little Vixen – we’ll be introducing a new venue to the festival: the Big Top.

This indoor/outdoor space offers different and exciting theatrical possibilities for our creative teams. We can’t wait to see what they come up with to draw you into the worlds of these operas. The Big Top gives us excellent seating flexibility, allowing for a larger socially distanced audience than our theatre can offer.
