Hailed as "an adept conductor from the theorbo" by the Boston Musical Intelligencer, Ryaan Ahmed enjoys a varied career as a conductor, lutenist, scholar, and software developer. He holds an AB in Computer Science from Harvard University and an MM in Early Music from the Eastman School of Music, where he studied lute with Paul O'Dette and was a Paul and Daisy Soros Fellow. Ryaan's recent performing work has included projects with the Boston Early Music Festival, Welsh National Opera, English Touring Opera, Bury Court Opera, Hampstead Garden Opera, the Newberry Consort, Solomon's Knot, Spiritato, the Scottish Ensemble, Sinfonia Cymru, and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. Ryaan is the Chief Technology Officer at Artusi, a software company developing music education software with an aim to change the way undergraduates study music theory.
