Rosie Kat is a theatre and opera director originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne. She trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, graduating with Distinction in MA Theatre and Opera Directing, after studying BA Drama and English Literature at the University of Birmingham.
As a director, Rosie specialises in directing Youth and Community Engagement productions. Highlights include The Monster in the Maze (Music in the Round/Sheffield Music Hub/Crucible Theatre), Pied Piper of Hamelin (Northern Opera Group), and The Journey (Citizens of the World Refugee Choir/Tete-a-Tete). She was director of Leeds Youth Opera from 2020-2022 and has directed projects with undergraduate and postgraduate students at RWCMD and Leeds Conservatoire. In 2025 Rosie will direct projects with the Opera North Youth Company and Welsh National Opera.
As assistant and associate director, Rosie has worked at companies including Opera North, Welsh National Opera, Leeds Playhouse, Opera Holland Park, Grange Festival, and the Royal Opera House.
