Rosalind Dobson

British/American Soprano Rosalind Dobson studied English at Cambridge before training at the Royal College of Music, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and the National Opera Studio (NOS).

Alongside appearing as Gretel for Longborough Festival Opera, in 2026 she also debuts as Elle in La Voix Humaine in Germany with the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra and sings Strauss’ Vier Letzte Lieder in Zürich.

Previous engagements include Mette (cover) in Mark Antony Turnage’s Festen for the Royal Ballet and Opera Covent Garden, Esmeralda (The Bartered Bride, OperaFirst performance) and Naiad (cover) both for Garsington Opera, and Lena in Bampton Classical Opera’s 2025 production of La Locandiera

Rosalind is a passionate interpreter of contemporary music and this season premieres new works by composers Ben Lunn (Royal Northern Sinfonia), Leon Clowes (Birmingham Opera) and Ed Lambert (The Music Troupe), and has been commissioned by the Australian Government to devise and perform a new opera in Sydney, Australia.

During her time at NOS she appeared in scenes during company residencies as Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos/WNO), Tytania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream/ENO), Fiorilla (Il Turco in Italia/Opera North), Sophie (Werther/Scottish Opera) and Norina (Don Pasquale).
