Nicholas Morris

Baritone

Nicholas trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). Previous appearances include Ned Keene/Peter Grimes and Marcello/La bohème for Kensington Symphony Orchestra; Mozart’s Count/ Marriage of Figaro for West Green; Escamillo in a new version of Carmen for Baseless Fabric in London; Monterone/Rigoletto, and the world premiere of King Kong by Jeffrey Ching for Theatre Magdeburg; recorded Margaret Catchpole by Stephen Dodgson for Naxos; and took the title role in the world premiere of To see the Invisible by Emily Howard at Snape.

He has played Garibaldo/Rodelinda, with the re-formed Cambridge Handel Opera Company, made his debut in Croatia as Smirnov/The Bear; performed in the Portuguese and British premieres of the contemporary work Hummus by Zad Moultaka; sang Harlekin/Ariadne auf Naxos, appeared as Maxwell Davies’ Mad King and The Officer in Philip Glass’s In the Penal Colony in London’s West End with Shadwell Opera.

This season he will sing Klingsor/Parsifal and Nick Shadow/The Rake’s Progress with New Palace Opera. Away from the opera stage, Nicholas is a keen concert singer and recitalist, singing works such as Messiah and Bach’s passions throughout the UK and further afield.
