Nia is a high lyric coloratura soprano. Based in Copenhagen Nia recently understudied Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos for the Royal Danish Opera and performed the role to much acclaim for the general rehearsal of the production. Also for the Royal Danish Theatre she has performed excerpts of Nixon in China (Madam Mao) featured as soprano soloist for Mendelssohn’s Hör mein Bitten on Danmarks Radio, as well as solo roles including La Cugina (Madama Butterfly) and Solo Handmaid (The Handmaid’s Tale).
Nia has performed in leading UK venues including the Royal Opera House, Wigmore Hall, Glasgow Royal Concert Halls, Edinburgh Usher Hall and Snape Maltings.
Nia is fast gaining a reputation and demand for contemporary music, and realising new compositions. Examples include: The Knife of Dawn by Hannah Kendall for the Royal Opera House (conducted by Jonathon Heyward, directed by Ola Ince) and the premiere of New Dark Age (conducted by Natalie Murray Beale, directed by Katie Mitchell); the world premiere of the Elena Langer/Glynn Maxwell-Davies song cycle It’s Not You, It’s Me at Wigmore Hall; the world premiere of Spellbook for Longborough Festival Opera in collaboration with RIOT Ensemble; the UK premiere of Svadba, a contemporary folk opera for six unaccompanied female voices at Waterperry Opera Festival.
