Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, British- Swiss violinist Naomi Burrell enjoys a diverse career with a specialism in historical performance. She plays with the UK’s leading early music ensembles such as English Concert, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Academy of Ancient Music, I Fagiolini and is one of the leaders of English Touring Opera’s ‘Old Street Band’. She has played at major UK venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in the BBC Proms and O2 Arena, and has toured Europe and internationally. Her interest in early music has led to collaborations with theatre and dance forms such as Shobana Jeyasingh Dance, Shakespeare’s Globe, playing in the West End and regular tours with the award-winning ensemble, Barokksolistene – led by Bjarte Eike. Naomi is also an arranger and composer and is currently working on an album of lullabies and night music for all the family with her mother and some fellow musicians in Gothenburg. A passionate facilitator, she has worked for Royal Opera House, Spitalfields Music and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and uses her creativity, her background in movement and her eclectic taste in music in a wide variety of settings. Having moved around a great deal, she now enjoys living by the sea in Hastings where she is renovating a converted pub.
