Myrna Tennant

Mezzo-soprano

Originally from the Netherlands and now based in London, Myrna graduated with MMus (Distinction) from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under the tutelage of Yvonne Kenny, and BMus Hons (First Class) from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, under the tutelage of Helen Lawson and Wilma MacDougall.

Myrna shifted from soprano to Zwischenfach mezzo-soprano in 2023, and as a result has performed a wide range of repertoire. Highlights include the title role in Massenet's Cendrillon, Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), and Dido (Dido and Aeneas). Recently, Myrna performed the role of ‘Employee’ for Gods of the Game, a newly commissioned work for Sky Arts with Grange Park Opera.

Myrna was a Britten Pears Young Artist, and a BYO Serena Fenwick Young Artist. On these programmes she had the privilege of working with industry leading professionals including Gweneth Ann Rand, Julius Drake, Nicky Spence, Nelly Miricioiu, and Allyson Devenish.

She has been a finalist and prize winner in the Bampton Classical Opera ‘Young Singers Competition’, Hurn Court Opera’s ‘Singer of the Year’, and the London Choral Sinfonia ‘Leach Award for Singing’.

During her studies, Myrna was grateful to be supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, the Kathleen Trust, the Mario Lanza Educational Foundation, the Clemence Charitable Trust, and the Dewar Arts Awards.
