Matthew Siveter (Emerging Artist)

Baritone

Having studied at Royal Holloway, Matthew has gone on to work extensively in comedic opera with a focus on operetta and The Savoy Operas. He has been a regular principal with The National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company (The Major General, The Mikado, Pirate King, Sir Despard, Private Willis, Pooh Bah, Grosvenor). He has worked both in London and on tour with companies such as Opera della Luna (Jupiter, Captain Corcoran) and Charles Court Opera (Grosvenor, Katisha, Mountararat, Captain Corcoran) in several award nominated/winning productions. Matthew is a guest soloist with Tarantara Productions and also sang Sgt Of Police in Lyric Opera Ireland’s The Pirates of Penzance. Matthew was recently nominated for Best Opera Performance at The Off West End Awards for his portrayal of Hugh Bah in Charles Court Opera’s The Mikado

Matthew covered (and went on as) Escamillo for several performances of Carmen at Longborough Festival Opera 2022. He is proud to be a part of Longborough’s Playground Opera, taking opera workshops and performances into schools. This has included The Downfall of Don Jose 2022/23 as Escamillo and The Elixir Of Love 2024 as Belcore/Dr Dulcamara. 

He has performed roles at The Buxton International Festival (Orphée aux enfers) and Iford Arts Festival (Candide) where he was also a Young Artist. Matthew is a British Youth Opera ‘Serena Fenwick Artist’ and also proudly on the Talent Pathway Programme of Mascarde Opera Studio, Florence.
