Mark worked previously with Max Hoehn on The Consul at Welsh National Opera. His opera, ballet, drama and musical designs in the UK include productions at Birmingham Royal Ballet, Buxton, Chichester, Edinburgh Festival, Garsington, Glyndebourne, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, NT, Opera Holland Park, Royal Court, Royal Exchange, London Children’s Ballet, RSC, Royal Ballet, Scottish Opera, WNO, London’s West End and many regional theatres. 

Overseas he has designed at ABT New York, Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse, Ballet K Tokyo, Banff, Bayerische Staatsoper Munich, Bordeaux, Broadway, Cape Town, Charleston, Danish National Opera, Helsinki, Dublin, Houston Ballet, Israeli Opera, Japanese National Ballet, Johannesburg, Barcelona, Los Angeles, Opera, Maggio Musicale Florence, Mexico, Strasbourg, Royal Danish Opera, Royal Swedish Opera, Vlaamse Opera, Spoleto Festival, Staatsballett Berlin, Stuttgart Ballett, Teatro Real Madrid, Vienna and Washington.

Mark was Head of Lighting at the National Theatre from 1993-2003. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He was nominated for the Drama Desk award for Outstanding Lighting for Prometheus Bound in New York and a Knight of Illumination nomination for Lulu (WNO) and won the Knight of Illumination for Vanessa at Glyndebourne.
