Marie Cayeux

Soprano

Recipient of a bursary from the International Opera Awards Foundation for the season 2023-2024, Marie Cayeux recently debuted at Opéra de Monte-Carlo as the Fire, the Princess and the Nightingale in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges and as a guest artist at the international Festival Lyrique-en-Mer. 

Winner of the 3rd and Audience Prizes at the 2022 Hurn Court Opera Competition and the 2nd Prize at the 2022 Arles International Opera Competition, the French coloratura soprano was a member of the Alexander Gibson Opera School at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for the seasons 2021-2023 as well as a recipient of the Sybil Tutton Opera Award and the Hamilton Duval Music Foundation Scholarship.

Past roles include: La Princesse Laoula (L’etoile – Chabrier), Taumännchen (Hänsel und Gretel – Humperdinck) and Louisa (A Feast in Time of Plague – Cui). A committed performer of contemporary music, Marie gained critical acclaim for her interpretations of Mrs P. (The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat – Nyman) and The Maid (Four Sisters – Langer). She received the Tracey Chadwell Memorial Award for the Best Performance of a New Work for Voice during the 2021 Wigmore Voiceworks.

Marie is an alumna of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Leeds Lieder Festival’s Young Artist Program and Oxenfoord Summer School. She holds a Bachelor in Law from Paris Descartes University.
