In 2016 Lee Bisset performed the title role for Jenůfa at Longborough to great acclaim. She returns for 2017 as Isolde in the revival of our 2015 Tristan und Isolde.
Scottish soprano Lee Bisset was as good an Isolde as I have seen, showing us rich and unflagging vocals, a commanding stage presence, sensitive expression and acting, and (above all!) seemingly endless staminaWagner Society (Tristan und Isolde, Longborough 2015)
Praised in the Guardian as “the most all-round compelling Sieglinde I have heard since the great Helga Dernesch”, Lee Bisset was born in Scotland, which he represented at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. She studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and the National Opera Studio, before joining the Young Singers’ Programme at English National Opera.
Elsewhere, she has sung for Chelsea Opera Group, the Dorset Opera Festival, Northern Ireland Opera, Opera North, and Scottish Opera, whilst international engagements have included performances with Opera Memphis, Opera Omaha, the Ópera de Bellas Artes, Mexico City, and the Ópera São Paulo. Lee Bisset continues her studies with Dame Anne Evans.
