Lee Bisset

Soprano

Lee Bisset studied at the  Royal Northern College of Music and the National Opera Studio, before joining the Young Singers’ Programme at English National Opera. 

She has since sung principal roles for companies including Opera North, Scottish Opera, Northern Ireland Opera, Konzert Theater Bern, Ópera de Bellas Artes, Mexico City, Ópera São Paulo, Opera Memphis and Opera Omaha, her repertoire including the title role in Jenufa, Santuzza/Cavalleria Rusticana, Minnie/ La fanciulla del West, the title role in Tosca, Senta/Der fliegende Holländer, Third Norn/ Götterdämmerung, Isolde/Tristan und Isolde and Sieglinde/Die Walküre. Concert highlights include Beethoven Symphony No. 9 at Teatro Real, Madrid, Mahler Symphony No. 8 with Orchestra of Opera North and the premiere of Piet Swerts’ Symphony of Trees with the Flanders Symphony Orchestra (a performance available  on Phaedra CD). She made her debut with The Royal Opera as Liza/The Queen of Spades and has returned to sing The Overseer/Elektra and Gerhilde/Die Walküre. Her future engagements include returns to both Edinburgh International Festival and London’s Royal Ballet & Opera.

For Longborough Festival Opera, she has most recently sung Brünnhilde in the complete cycles of Der Ring des Nibelungen and Isolde/Tristan und Isolde.
