Kjell Torriset

Designer

Kjell Torriset was born in Norway. He trained at Sir John Cass College, Central St Martin’s London, Brighton Polytechnic and Statens Kunstakademi, Oslo. He is principally an artist, but his work for the stage includes designs for Nasjonalthreatret, Oslo, as well as for Longborough Festival Opera for whom he has designed sets and costumes for Das Rheingold 2007/8; Die Walküre 2010; Siegfried 2011; Götterdämmerung 2012. As an artist, he has had exhibitions in London, Stockholm, Oslo, Edingburgh, Hamburg and Copenhagen. He has executed large-scale public commissions for the new University Library, Georg Sverdrups Hus, Oslo University; Royal Norwegian Embassy, London; Tafjord Kraft, Aalesund, Norway; Radiumhospitalet, Oslo; Nasco Headquarters, Edinburgh. His work is in many public collections including the British Museum, London; National Museum for Art, Architecture and Design, Oslo; Astrup Fearnley Museum, Oslo; Vasterås Konstmuseum, Sweden.
