New Zealand baritone Kieran Rayner is a graduate from the Royal College of Music Opera School, where he studied with Russell Smythe. He is supported by an Independent Opera Fellowship, and the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation. He is a Wigmore Hall International Song Competition semifinalist 2019, Garsington Opera Alvarez Young Artist, Verbier Atélier Lyrique Artist, Samling Artist, Britten Pears Young Artist, and the winner of Royal Over-Seas League Crashaw Prize for Outstanding Overseas Musician 2018. Roles include Figaro/Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Devon Opera); Prince of Mantua/Fantasio (Garsington Opera); Sharpless/Madam Butterfly (Eternity Opera); Eisenstein/Die Fledermaus (NAFA Singapore 2018, RCMIOS 2016); Le Mari & Le Directeur/Les Mamelles de Tirésias (Euphonia Opera 2018, RCMIOS 2017); Diener/Capriccio, Remo (cover)/The Skating Rink (Garsington Opera); Forester/Cunning Little Vixen (RCMIOS 2017, British Youth Opera 2015), Demetrius/Midsummer Night’s Dream, Nardo/La Finta Giardiniera, Vicar Gedge/Albert Herring (RCMIOS); Crespel/Tales of Hoffmann (English Touring Opera); six roles/English Eccentrics (BYO); Figaro/Barber of Seville (Park Opera).
