Kateryna Kasper

Soprano

The Ukrainian-German soprano Kateryna Kasper is celebrated for her versatility across opera, oratorio, and lieder. She has performed at leading international venues and festivals and is known for her nuanced interpretations. 

Recent operatic highlights include her debut as Elettra in Mozart’s Idomeneo with René Jacobs at Teatro Real Madrid, the Liceu Opera House in Barcelona, and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, as well as her performance as Piacere in Handel’s Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno in Seoul and Tokyo. She also made her debut at the Berlin State Opera as Empress Arianna in Vivaldi’s Il Giustino. At Oper Frankfurt, she appeared as Venus in Mozart’s Ascanio in Alba and as Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen. Her notable recent concert engagements include Mozart’s Mass in C Minor at the Salzburg Festival, Haydn’s The Creation at the Tonhalle Zurich, a European and South Korean tour of Bach’s St Matthew Passion.

In the upcoming season, she will make her role debut as Cleopatra in Handel’s Giulio Cesare at Oper Frankfurt and as Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at Vlaamse Opera. From 2014 to 2024, Kateryna Kasper was a member of the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt, where she performed a wide repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary works. 

Her recordings include Ein süßes Deingedenken, featuring songs by Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn; O wüßt ich doch den Weg zurück…, a collection of romantic songs about childhood and fairy tales recorded on the historic Steinway of Richard Wagner in Bayreuth; song cycles by Shostakovich and Weinberg with Trio Vivente; and Freischütz with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra.
