Jung Soo Yun

Tenor

London-based tenor Jung Soo Yun studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland‚ and the International Academy of Voice with Dennis O’Neill CBE.

A winner of the Montserrat Caballé International Singing Competition, Yun’s recent engagements have seen him perform the role of Zamoro in Verdi’s rarely performed Alzira (Buxton International Festival) for which he garnered high critical acclaim: “Jung Soo Yun displayed a big‚ open tenor with an exciting top as a dashing Zamoro‚ bringing the house down with his rousing Act 2 cabaletta” (Bachtrack). Elsewhere he has performed Italian Singer/Der Rosenkavalier (Opera North); Rinuccio/Gianni Schicchi (Gothenburg Opera); Alfredo/La travaiata (Danish National Opera); Il Duca di Mantua/Rigoletto, and the title role in Faust (Cork International Festival).

Previous seasons’ highlights include Rodolfo/La bohème (Danish National Opera); Macduff/Macbeth (Opera North); Nadir/Les pêcheurs de perles‚ Rinuccio/Gianni Schicchi, and Flavio/Norma (Opera Holland Park); Mainfroid and cover Henri/Les Vêpres siciliennes (Royal Opera House); and Lensky/Eugene Onegin (Grange Park Opera). Other notable roles include Edgardo/Lucia di Lammermoor, Hoffmann/Les Contes d’Hoffmann‚ and the Prince/The Love for Three Oranges.

Future engagements see him make major role and house debuts including Henri/Les Vêpres siciliennes, the Italian Tenor/Der Rosenkavalier, the title role/Faust, and Rodolfo/La bohème.
