Jan Robotycki

Assistant Director

Jan is an Assistant Director specialising in opera and classical performance. He holds a First-Class degree in Production Arts from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and previously studied Culture Studies at the Jagiellonian University.

For the 2025/26 season, he returned to Guildhall as an Artist Junior Fellow in Opera Directing, assisting on Owen Wingrave and Opera Makers productions.

Jan combines creativity and sensitivity to performers’ journeys with a strong understanding of backstage technical processes, fostering collaborative and supportive environments across production teams.

His creative practice focuses on reimagining the operatic experience in unconventionally transformed theatre spaces. His recent project, Orfeo’s Effect, an immersive installation presented at Guildhall, explored the emotional essence of opera and its impact on the individual through the lens of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth.

Alongside his directing work, Jan is active as a Stage Manager.

Recent credits include collaborations with the Philharmonia Symphony Orchestra, Southbank Centre, Wexford Festival Opera, Vache Baroque, Dorset Opera Festival and St. Paul’s Opera.
