Jack Bowtell

Baritone

Originally hailing from the Ribble Valley in Lancashire, British baritone Jack Bowtell graduated his undergraduate BMus in Vocal Performance from The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he was awarded The Eileen Price Prize For Lieder Singing, The Webber Trust Scholarship and The Leverhulme Trust Scholarship. After progressing on to his masters, under the tutelage of Donald Maxwell, Jack graduated with distinction from the David Seligman Opera School in 2020.

In 2019, Jack made his professional debut with Welsh National Opera as Second Prison Guard in Dead Man Walking (Heggie) with Grammy Award-Winning conductor, Karen Kamensek.

Recent operatic highlights have included a company debut last summer with Opera Holland Park, in Martin Lloyd-Evans’ critically acclaimed production of Pagliacci (Leoncavallo), and more recently in their new production of The Flying Dutchman (Wagner) earlier this year. Jack has had the pleasure of working with Longborough Festival Opera the past three years, appearing in L'elisir d'amore (Donizetti) and more recently in Götterdämmerung (Wagner), part of their Der Ring des Nibelungen.

Jack has enjoyed working with a number of renowned conductors and coaches including, Sir Simon Rattle, Carlo Rizzi, Sir Karl Jenkins, Anthony Negus, John Fisher, Martyn Brabbins, Michael Pollock, Joseph Middleton and Simon Lepper.

Previous operatic roles include, Mr. Gedge, The Vicar - Albert Herring (Britten), Guglielmo - Così fan tutte (Mozart), Willi Graf - Kommilitonen! (Maxwell-Davies) and Pinellino - Gianni Schicchi (Puccini).
