A Britten-Pears Young Artist, Felix Kemp’s current engagements include Herald in Stanford’s The Travelling Companion for New Sussex Opera, the St Matthew Passion with the New London Orchestra, A Bernstein Celebration at the London Song Festival, Elijah in Arundel Cathedral and a recording with Odaline de la Marinez and Lontano as Pierrot in Ethel Smyth’s Fête Galante for Retrospect Opera. For Odaline de la Martinez, he will also sing The Chief in Imoinda – A Story of Love and Slavery.
He has sung for British Youth Opera, English Touring Opera, Grange Park Opera, Opera Holland Park Young Artists, OperaUpClose and at the Wexford Festival, as well as for Jerwood Opera at Snape Maltings, his repertoire including Spencer Coyle/Owen Wingrave, Masetto/Don Giovanni, the title role in Eugene Onegin, Marchese d’Obigny/La traviata and Melot/Tristan und Isolde. His broadcasts include In Tune for BBC Radio 3.
Following private studies in London, Felix Kemp continued his postgraduate studies at Trinity Laban, generously supported by the Kathleen Roberts Vocal Scholarship. His awards include First Prize at the Elisabeth Schumann Lieder Competition, Second Prize at the London Song Festival’s British Art Song Competition and the Audience Prize at the John Kerr Award for English Song.
