Emma Ryott’s designs for opera include: Marco Polo (Guangzhou Opera); Winterreise and Verdi Requiem (Opernhaus Zurich); The Flying Dutchman and The Damnation of Faust (Deutsche Oper); The Great Gatsby, La Damnation de Faust (Semper Oper); Falstaff (Wiesbaden); Orphée et Eurydice (Stuttgart); Otello (Salzburg Festival and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma); Austrian Music Award, Best Production for Mathis der Maler (Theater an der Wien); Manon Lescaut (ENO).

Designs for ballet include: Anna Karenina (Zurich, Oslo, Munich, Moscow, Korea National Ballet); Verdi Requiem and Der SandmannRomeo et Juliette and Sonnett (Ballet Zurich); Wozzeck (Oslo and Zurich); Leonce and Lena (Montreal and Stuttgart); Der Sandmann (Stuttgart and Zurich); Lulu eine Monstretragodie and Das Fräulein von Scuderi (Stuttgart Ballet); Poppea/Poppea film (Arte); Don Q (Theaterhaus Stuttgart); The Return of Ulysses (Royal Ballet Flanders and Edinburgh Festival); Cinderella (Finnish National Ballet).

Designs for theatre include: The Young Chekov, Seagull, Ivanov, Platonov (National Theatre); The Heart of Robin Hood (RSC/ Vesturport in Boston), Toronto (Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Design); Tom Stoppard’s Rock ‘n’ Roll (West End, Broadway, Sunset Boulevard, Göteborg Opera).

TV designs include: 2016 New Year’s Concert (Vienna, for ORF). Film designs include: Death of Pentheus, Arhat, Taming the Dragon, Verdi Requiem (Zurich Opera and ballet SSR).

Future projects include: 2020 New Year’s Concert (Vienna, for ORF); Lachenmann’s Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzer (Zurich); Die Walküre (Longborough 2020); La bohème (Copenhagen Festival).
