Emma Bell enjoys an enduring international career and has performed a diverse span of repertoire on the world’s major stages including Teatro alla Scala, Salzburg Festival, Deutsche Oper Berlin, The Metropolitan Opera as well as the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Glyndebourne Festival Opera. Working with acclaimed conductors including Semyon Bychkov, Simone Young, Andris Nelsons, Donald Runnicles and Juraj Valcuha, recent performances have included as Miss Jessel (Turn of the Screw), Elisabeth and Venus (Tannhäuser), Leonore (Fidelio), Madame Lidoine (Dialogues des Carmelites), Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes), Foreign Princess (Rusalka), Strauss’ Arabella, Sieglinde (Die Walküre) and Barber’s Vanessa among others. An engaging concert performer, Emma Bell’s core repertoire includes Strauss, Vier letzte Lieder, Beethoven, Missa Solemnis, Britten, War Requiem, Mahler, Symphony No 8 (Magna Peccatrix), Beethoven, Symphony No 9 and Wagner, Wesendonck Lieder and she recently created the role of Elizabeth I in the world premiere of Brett Dean’s In spe contra spem with London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Edward Gardner at London’s Royal Festival Hall. Emma Bell features as Freia on the Hallé Orchestra recording of Wagner, Das Rheingold, conducted by Sir Mark Elder and as Miss Jessel on the Glyndebourne Festival recording of Turn of the Screw under Edward Gardner as well as on DVD of The Cunning Little Vixen conducted by Vladimir Jurowski, and Idomeneo conducted by Daniel Harding.
