British soprano Ella de Jongh is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama Opera Course, where she studied under the tutelage of Professor Janice Chapman and coach Michael Pugh.
Highlights of the 2023 season include her Opera Holland Park debut in the Young Artist cast of Hänsel und Gretel playing The Gingerbread Witch as well singing her first Contessa Le nozze di Figaro in Tuscany with Spira Mirabilis. Ella was also fortunate enough to have been named as a British Youth Opera Serena Fenwick Artist in 2023 and is delighted to be covering Die Marschallin and Marianne in Der Rosenkavalier for Saffron Opera after successfully covering Donna Anna in Don Giovanni earlier this year.
Ella is delighted to have returned to Garsington Opera as an Alvarez Young Artist for the 2022 season covering the role of Foreign Princess, singing in the chorus of Rusalka and covering the role of ‘Miss Jessel’ in Louisa Muller’s award-winning revival of The Turn of the Screw. Ella was hugely humbled and grateful to have been awarded the Garsington Opera ‘Simon Sandbach Chorus Award’ in recognition of personal and professional contributions and musical skill during the 2022 season. In the summer of 2019, Ella was fortunate enough to be an Alvarez Young Artist with Garsington Opera in Smetana's The Bartered Bride under Director Paul Curran and Conductor Jac van Steen. She is thrilled to have returned to Garsington Opera for their 2021 critically acclaimed production of Der Rosenkavalier where she covered the role of Marianne as well as singing in the chorus. Other recent notable engagements include reaching the final in the Susan Longfield Competition, Pre-LSO Czech Platform at the Barbican Hall as well as the UK Premiere of Andrew Norman's newly commissioned opera A Trip to the Moon with London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. Further operatic roles include Marschallin & Marianne Der Rosenkavalier, Tartagliona Little Green Swallow, Sylvia Zanetto, Contessa Le nozze di Figaro, Cleaning Lady I'm Cleaning, I'm Cleaning and irst Lady The Magic Flute.
