British soprano Ella de Jongh is a graduate of the prestigious Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she studied under the tutelage of Professor Janice Chapman.
Recent notable engagements include Final Scene: Salomé with Fulham Symphony Orchestra at Cadogan Hall, live podcast recording for ‘The Rest is History: Wagner vs Tchaikovsky’ at the Royal Albert Hall, Ortlinde in Wagner’s Die Walküre (Regents Opera) covering Miss Jessel in The Turn of the Screw (ENO), covering Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes (BYO), chorus of La Bohème, and covering Wellgunde and the Third Norn in Wagner’s Ring Cycle (LFO). Ella made her debut at Opera Holland Park, as part of the Young Artist cast of Hansel & Gretel playing The Gingerbread Witch. Ella also made her European debut in the role of Contessa Almaviva in Tuscany (Spira Mirabilis), before jumping into the role of Die Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier (Saffron Opera Group), to critical acclaim. Ella revived her role as Contessa Almaviva with Saffron Opera and was named as a 2023 Serena Fenwick Artist with British Youth Opera. Ella has enjoyed three seasons with Garsington Opera, covering roles in Der Rosenkavalier, Turn of the Screw and Rusalka and was delighted to have performed at the Edinburgh International Festival in the 2022 production of Rusalka. During the season, Ella was hugely humbled and grateful to have been awarded the Simon Sandbach Chorus Award in recognition of personal and professional contributions and musical skill.
Future engagements include Chrysothemis Elektra (New Palace & Regents Opera) and Four Last Songs (Wandsworth Symphony Orchestra).
Operatic roles include Ellen Orford, Peter Grimes, Cleaning Lady I’m Cleaning, I’m Cleaning (world premier), The Witch Hansel und Gretel, Giorgetta Il tabarro, Elizabeth 1st Gloriana, Die Marschallin and Marianne Der Rosenkavalier, Contessa Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro, Wellgunde, Ortlinde and Third Norn Der Ring des Nibelungen.
Appearing as the guest artist at the UK McDonalds Franchisee AGM Gala Dinner in Lisbon in October 2023, she has also recorded a number of CD’s with Faber & Faber, as part of the national Sing Up! campaign and shot a commercial for Apple under award-winning Marketing and Advertising director Ian Thatcher.
