Elaine McKrill (Soprano) is a prizewinning graduate and Associate of the RAM and former winner of the Mastersingers' Wagner Singers Competition. She has been involved in over twenty different Ring Cycle Projects worldwide, from Australia to Hong Kong and North America to Europe – as well as the Rings at Covent Garden, ENO, Scottish Opera and Opera North.
Her Wagner roles include Brünnhilde Die Walküre, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung; Isolde; Gutrune Götterdämmerung; Sieglinde, Ortlinde, Helmwige and Gerhilde Die Walküre; Third Norn and Second Norn Götterdämmerung; Freia Das Rheingold; Adriano Rienzi; Kundry Parsifal and Ortrud Lohengrin. Since returning to her career post-Covid 19 cancellations, Elaine has added the roles of Fricka Das Rheingold and Die Walküre and Venus Tannhäuser to her repertoire.
For the Royal Opera Elaine has sung Ortlinde Die Walküre, Marianne Leitmetzerin Der Rosenkavalier, Aufseherin and the cover of the title role in Elektra. Her critically acclaimed debut in 2015 as Elektra for Theater Magdeburg was a major career highlight.
In addition to her Wagner and Strauss repertoire, Elaine covered the roles of Kostelnicka Jenůfa (ENO); Gertrud Hänsel und Gretel (Glyndebourne); the title role in Fidelio and Anna Maurrant in Street Scene (Opera North). Last season Elaine was delighted to make her long-awaited debut as Lady Billows Albert Herring in a concert performance in London.
