Eddie Wade

Baritone

British Baritone Eddie Wade studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and the National Opera Studio, where he was sponsored by the Royal Opera House and the Sybil Tutton Trust.

Eddie was awarded both First Prize and the Verdi/Wagner Prize at the National Mozart Competition in 1996, and in the same season made his Royal Opera House debut as the Mandarin in Turandot. He has since gone on to perform many varied roles with leading companies, including: Baron Douphol/La traviata, Fouquier-Tinville/Andrea Chénier, and Indian/The Bartered Bride (Royal Opera House); Sharpless/Madama Butterfly (Danish National Opera); Prince Arjuna/Satyagraha and Mereia, Lepidus/Caligula (English National Opera); Sharpless/Madama Butterfly, Melot/Tristan und Isolde, Peter/Hänsel und Gretel, Marcello/La bohème, Baron Douphol/La traviata, Sprecher/Die Zauberflöte, Conte Almaviva/Le nozze di Figaro, Stárek/Jenůfa (Welsh National Opera); Sharpless/Madama Butterfly and title role/Rigoletto (Scottish Opera); Sonora/La fanciulla del West and Donald/Billy Budd (Opera North); Baron Douphol/La traviata (Nederlandse Reisopera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Glyndebourne on Tour); title role/Macbeth, Eustachio/L'assedio di Calais (English Touring Opera); Germont, Scarpia, Rigoletto and Tonio (on tour in France and Switzerland).
