David Eaton

David Eaton is a conductor, pianist, composer, lyricist, and sound designer. He is the musical director and a founding member of Charles Court Opera, where he has led numerous productions over nearly two decades. Specializing in the works of Gilbert and Sullivan, he has conducted all their major operas, as well as conducting at Opera Holland Park, Buxton Opera House, Longborough Festival Opera, and Iford Arts.

As a solo pianist and accompanist, David has performed at venues such as Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and St. John’s Smith Square. His work as a composer and sound designer spans opera, musical theatre, and pantomime. He has been writing and composing for the Charles Court Pantomime for 17 years, with productions receiving two Offie Awards for Beowulf (King’s Head Theatre) and Odyssey (Jermyn Street Theatre).

David has also written several opera translations, including Bastien and Bastienne (Arcola Theatre), La Bohème (King’s Head Theatre), The Barber of Seville (Iford Arts, Wilton’s Music Hall), and The Magic Flute (Iford Arts, Wilton’s Music Hall). This year, he presents his translation of The Merry Widow at Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park and joins Longborough Festival Opera as Assistant Conductor for The Barber of Seville. He is also developing new projects in opera and theatre.
