Clare Whistler

Movement Director

Clare makes work-inperformance, site-specific work in the landscape, poetry, music and visual art.

She has worked for Olivia Fuchs at Opera Holland Park, Garsington, Den Norske Denmark and elsewhere. 

She assisted Peter Sellars on Theodora, Tristan and The Passion of Simone Weil. Her international career as a dancer, choreographer and director has included 15 years working in opera and education at Glyndebourne, ROH, HMDT and other organisations. She has been awarded two RPS awards for directing community operas. 

As kin’d & kin’d Clare co-runs performative eco-poetry events/courses/publications with poet Kay Syrad. With visual artist Charlotte Still Clare is the creator/collaborator of WATERWEEK in East Sussex. They were awarded the Nick Reeves Award for Arts and the Environment 2019. She co-founded Elephant - A small press, with long term collaborator designer Raphael Whittle in 2016. Visual artist Nicola Turner and Whistler have been collaborating as Turner & Whistler since 2019.
