CHARLOTTE FAIRBAIRN

Violin

Charlotte enjoys a diverse life as violinist and violist, playing both ‘modern’ and period instruments. She performs regularly with various orchestras including The English Concert, Hanover Band, Orchestra of the Swan, Academy of Ancient Music, and has recently appeared with London Handel Orchestra, Irish Baroque Orchestra, and Oxford Baroque Soloists.

Charlotte is proud to lead the St Albans Symphony Orchestra (since 2020), and is a passionate advocate for, and performer with, MishMash Productions (since 2017), which creates beautiful classical music shows for young audiences.

Charlotte’s educational path began at Royal Academy Junior Dept. to studying Music at Kings College London, followed by a violin Masters at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. She sang as a choral scholar throughout her degrees, and studied with Diana Cummings, Clare Thompson and Walter Reiter. Her fascination with performance behaviour and psychology has made her passionate about coaching and communication in performance. ‘You teach that which you have to learn.’ She loves teaching and educational school projects with groups such as the New Mozart Orchestra – and is increasingly involved in staged work, such as Garsington’s Orfeo (2022), In the Realms of Sorrow, and a staged production of Handel’s cantatas for the London Handel Festival (2023).
