Alice Nelson

Mezzo-soprano

Alice Nelson began her training with International Mezzo Soprano Maria Jagusz. She was awarded a place at The Royal Northern College of Music in 2007 where she continued her studies with Ann Taylor and gained her Bachelor of Music Degree. Alice has performed throughout the country from an early age in a variety of roles including both Opera and Musical theatre. For the RNCM Alice was cast as The Teapot in L'enfant et les sortilèges, Orestes in Le Belle Helene and Hermia in A Midsummer Nights Dream. Alice performed the role of Carmen at The Playhouse in Cheltenham with MJUK in 2011 to great critical acclaim. Alice has performed for Longborough Festival Opera in The Magic Flute, The Threepenny Opera, La Boheme, Les Miserable, Sweeney Todd, Madam Butterfly and multiple concerts. Alice also toured with the Manchester Camerata in a production of Dido and Aeneus across the North of England. Alice has performed in London with BYO’s production of La Boheme. She has also performed in a masterclass with David Pollard at the prestigious Chipping Camden Music Festival. This year Alice will perform Carmen for Longborough Festivals Education project, touring schools over the Cotswolds. Alice has this year, fought off huge competition to be selected for The Serena Fenwick programme in London. This programme is designed to give intensive career training to talented emerging artists in the opera world.
