Adrian Woodward (aka Woody) studied at Trinity, the Royal College of Music and the Schola Cantorum in Switzerland. He is one of the leading period instrument specialists in the UK, touring and recording worldwide with all the period instrument orchestras, and regularly with the Kings Consort, Gabrieli and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. He also enjoys regular work with acclaimed chamber groups such as His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts and the English Cornett and Sackbut Ensemble. With his own specialist group ‘High Wire Baroque’, he has gained an enviable reputation with many Festivals around the UK, asking audiences to suggest well-known music and then improvising over the top in the styles of medieval, Renaissance, baroque, classical through to jazz. Woody has worked as an MD in over 30 productions at the Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, several of them winning awards. He often gets called upon to play unusual instruments such as the Hang, Hammer Dulcimer, Hurdy-Gurdy, Navelur, Spanish and Greek Bagpipes.
