Community Chorus 1

Community Chorus

“Singing on stage in a professional opera was a complex and transformative experience. I was able to experience the full force and beauty of the opera world from the inside. It was challenging, exhilarating, and something I will remember for the rest of my life.” – Community Chorus member

Join the Community Chorus!

This year our Community Chorus will be participating in the UK premiere of Avner Dorman’s Wahnfried: the birth of the Wagner cult.

We are looking for two male singers and four female singers to join the Community Chorus. The Community Chorus is supported by a professional chorus of 16 singers.

This is an opportunity to experience being part of a real opera production. What better way to try something different in the New Year?

Wahnfried will be conducted by Justin Brown (Die tote Stadt 2022) and features a cast of leading British singers including Susan Bullock CBE, and Mark Le Brocq – fresh from his roles as Loge and Siegmund in Longborough’s Ring Cycle and Aschenbach in WNO’s Death in Venice. Wahnfried will directed by our Artistic Director Polly Graham.

Previous Community Chorus productions

In 2023 we worked with singers from the local community to participate side by side with the main chorus in the performances of Wagner’s Götterdämmerung. Five performances were shared between the 12 members. The Community Chorus returned in 2024's Götterdämmerung as part of the complete Ring cycle.

“although it was challenging, it was made very enjoyable by the way everyone from Longborough went out of their way to help us and the friendly welcome we were given… we felt fully integrated with the whole production.”
