We are raising funds to help our amazing education projects in schools. These projects deliver interactive music programmes to 2,000 school-age children within our four neighbouring counties, across 15 state schools, based mainly in rural areas.
Our education team abridge a well-known opera to a 45 minute production, retaining the quality of music, themes and characterisation of the original score. Our dedicated education team deliver an in-person workshop where the children are immersed in the production, exploring the plot, cast and themes. The children rehearse alongside the professional cast, followed by a performance to their peers and staff.
Our vision is that every school should have a well-trained choir that meets weekly, boosting confidence and actively promoting singing as a feel good, collaborative and inspirational activity. Longborough Festival Opera choir masters visit primary schools in our region each week and work on a wide variety of repertoire. Schools are encouraged to deepen links with their local community by developing relationships with residential homes and performing to residents regularly.
Half-day workshops are delivered by our outstanding education team, accompanied by highly talented professional musicians and singers, giving students an opportunity to explore opera and engage in lively debate on the relevance, themes and issues in today's world. Students are then invited to attend the dress rehearsal of the studied opera at Longborough Festival Opera later that season.
