The 2019 Festival opens with Das Rheingold. Director Amy Lane (ROH) and our own eminent Wagnerian Anthony Negus commence Longborough's new Der Ring des Nibelungen, Wagner's epic tale of of gods, giants, and heroes and their struggles for power. Our new Ring will culminate in the full cycle in 2023.
Following 2018's L'incoronazione di Poppea, conductor Jeremy Silver and director Jenny Miller return to Longborough for Donizetti's tragic Anna Bolena.
Conductor Thomas Blunt (La traviata, 2018) joins director Martin Constantine for a new production (in English) of Mozart's charismatic and irresponsible Don Giovanni.
Longborough's 2019 Young Artist production is Cavalli's La Calisto. This rarely-performed brilliant work will be brought to life by conductor Lesley Anne Sammons and director Mathilde Lopez.
