Playground Opera: The Implausible Potions of Dr Dulcamara

For the first time we’re bringing our popular Playground Opera out of schools and into Chipping Campden’s Cidermill Theatre, for a public performance at 6.30pm on 14 June.

The Implausible Potions of Dr Dulcamara is a family friendly adaptation of Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love. Haughty Adina is loved by shy Nemorino; Nemorino is intimidated by the boastful Belcore; and all are hoodwinked by the unscrupulous Dr Dulcamara.

Love, longing, lies and gossip, plus some magic potions and a lot of confusion make this story a brilliant one for children.

Adults £15, Under 18s £2.50.

50% off for 18-35 Members, full-time students and unwaged/unemployed.

Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Booking opens in early 2024: see booking dates.

Playground Opera is Longborough Festival Opera's project to bring opera into schools.

Playground Opera makes opera more accessible and provides an exciting first experience of opera for hundreds of children. We prioritise schools in areas of rural or economic deprivation, where children have little access to high-quality culture. Playground Opera abridges classic operas, involving the pupils in rewriting the story, meeting the characters, and singing and dancing along to the music, resulting in an absorbing and highly engaging performance.
